What is a Success Fee and do I have to set one?

Every time an investor invests in a company through OpenScout, the Scout who scouted the company receives a success fee from said investor. OpenScout takes a % of this success fee.

As of now, we let every Investor decide for themselves what amount makes sense for them to offer (for context we generally see investors offering around 2% of their average ticket size). You’ll only pay your success fee if you invest in a deal that you saw on OpenScout, and you’ll be able to change the fee amount at any time.

In the future, however, we are looking into alternative Success Fee models, such as letting you set a variable fee as a percentage of your actual ticket size in a deal, or offering carry as a success fee.
