Key Concepts

Landscape leverages a number of alternative data sources to take an automated, data driven approach to supporting your funds top of funnel sourcing.

Check out the sections below to learn a little more about the key concepts of sourcing within Landscape.

Signal Feeds

Signal Feeds are shown on the left hand side of the UI and in the center page

A signal feed is a saved search that defines the type of opportunities you are looking to uncover. It can be something straightforward like "US Stealth Founders", or totally custom such as "AI Companies started by founders with a PhD, who previously worked at OpenAI"

You can add as many signal feed as you want by selecting one from our large pre-configured library, or by building your own custom feed.

Once a Signal Feed is configured, any opportunity that matches your criteria will be added to the feed as a Signal.

Signals

An individual signal showcasing a new founder, company or product discovered.

A signal is an opportunity that has been uncovered through Landscape.

It could be a founders, new product launch, companies, trending Github repository, or much more.

Where possible, Landscape uses LLMs to enrich Signals with information including Founder Traits, Startup Summaries, Startup Sectors, Startup Business Model, Relevant Founder Experiences.

New Signals

Whenever your feed has new signals, the count will be shown below

Landscape's data is refreshed daily, and whenever new Signals have been discovered that match the criteria of any of your Signal Feeds, the count of new signals will be shown below.

This is helpful for helping to prioritise which the new signals to triage through, and is included in a weekly report that lands in your inbox every Monday morning.

Triaging

Triaging buttons sit on the top right corner of every Signal, helping you to take action with ease.

Landscape has been designed to support lightning fast triaging through new opportunities for your investment team.

You can easily build new top of funnel opportunities by using our triage system, by either Saving, Hiding, Assigning, or Connection Messaging.

Don't worry, you'll still be able to retrieve previously hidden Signals, and you can also set up CRM integrations to push any Signal you Save direct into your CRM.

Founder Rank

Founder Rank is Landscape's proprietary algorithm to highlights the most compelling founders in your signal feeds. By analyzing each founder's traits, Founder Rank automatically categorizes them as

helping you prioritize key opportunities.

For those seeking more control, Founder Rank can be fully customized to fit your unique investment criteria under our Pro or Enterprise plans, ensuring you never miss the founders that matter the most to you.

Priority Signals vs. Signal Feeds

  1. Priority Signals

    • Focused on Founder Rank: Only includes founders who’ve been classified via Founder Rank (Top Founder, Great Founder, or Good Founder).

    • Time-Saving: Helps investment teams quickly zero in on high-potential founders without sifting through all possible leads.

    • Action-Oriented: Since it highlights the most promising profiles, it’s ideal for teams looking to prioritize outreach or due diligence.

  2. Signal Feeds

    • Casts a Wider Net: Shows all founders that match your filters—even if they aren’t yet categorized by Founder Rank.

    • Comprehensive View: Great for exploring the full range of opportunities or discovering emerging founders who may not fit into predefined rankings.

    • Flexible Search: Includes both ranked and unranked founders, giving you a full market overview.

In short:
Use Priority Signals for quick access to the highest-ranked founders, saving valuable time for your investment team. Tap into Signal Feeds when you want a more expansive look at everything in your pipeline, including founders who may not (yet) be part of Founder Rank.
